The programme “Aid for energy‑intensive industry related to gas and electricity prices in 2023” program was developed based on the Act of September 29, 2022, on the principles of implementing support programs for entrepreneurs in connection with the energy market situation in 2022‑2024.
In terms of compliance with EU legislation, it is based on the "Temporary Crisis and Transitional Framework for State Aid Measures to Support the Economy Following Russia's Aggression Against Ukraine" published by the European Commission in March of this year.
Approximately 3,000 companies were eligible to participate in the program.
Basic assistance was available to any energy-intensive business operating in the mining and industrial processing sectors, while enhanced assistance was available to companies operating in sectors particularly vulnerable to loss of competitiveness.
The program's budget is 5.5 billion PLN.
The assistance was provided to companies by the Minister of Development and Technology, and the program is operated by the National Fund for Environmental Protection and Water Management (NFOŚiGW).
